I'm preparing a report about security in congress and trade shows, and I want to know what are the ICCA's rules about it. |

Answer |

ICCA doesn't have any rules about this, but we encourage members to take security and risk assessment seriously. We have produced a PDF in ICCA Intelligence together with Insurex Exposure and Cope Int'l on Secure Event Management, which gives a good starting point of the issues to be aware of. We are running a Discussion Forum on the subject in Rhodes. A number of our PCO members (Barrie Markey; MCI) have drawn up comprehensive documents and policies on the subject; some of venues and CVB's have similarly experienced major events (eg SARS) and as a result have very comprehensive policies and procedures in place. Each member needs to have a policy that reflects the reality of their local business environment, but can learn from what others are doing. ICCA itself is not in a position to come up with one definitive solution, so we try to help members communicate with one another to share ideas. |
