SALES DIRECTOR/MANAGER
Meetings & Incentive Travel Portfolio
REED TRAVEL EXHIBITIONS

Reed Travel Exhibitions has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Director/Manager to work out of our office in Norwalk, CT. This position will focus on sales and strategic account management for our newly launched event, AIBTM. AIBTM will take place annually in Baltimore, MD and will be part of our meetings and incentive events portfolio. This portfolio currently comprises EIBTM in Barcelona, GIBTM in Abu Dhabi, CIBTM in Beijing and AIME in Melbourne. Reed Travel Exhibitions are also ICCA Business Partners and major sponsors at the ICCA Congress. The role will involve significant travel throughout North America, meeting with potential exhibitors, in order to present business solutions and sell space on this launch event.

The Job
The main elements of the role are:
• To meet predetermined sales targets
• Responsibility for planning and implementing sales of exhibition space and sponsorship opportunities.
• Identifying, researching and successfully closing new business opportunities
• Planning, developing and managing floor plan areas.
• Communicating across all disciplines to ensure market intelligence is shared in order to maximize any sales potential opportunities.
• Complying with financial and database procedures and utilization of the database to assist with account management.
• Managing sales staff associated with this event.
• Other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications
The candidate for this role will need to rapidly become recognized within the North American meetings industry and be able to articulate about key industry issues. A highly motivated sales professional is required who can demonstrate:
• Sales experience working on major accounts, ideally within the meetings or travel industries.
• First class written and oral communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
• A proven record of negotiating and securing new business.
• An ability to assimilate and practice strategic account management principles.
• The willingness to undertake regular domestic and international travel, often unaccompanied.
• The combination of being able to work under real pressure, using own initiative while also being a team player.
• Self motivated.

Marketing Manager – Regional Ambassador Leadership Project
Fixed term contract to 31 March 2011

Established in 1996 as the agency to promote Manchester on a national and international stage, Marketing Manchester became The Tourist Board for Greater Manchester on 1st April 2004 and as such, has four clearly defined roles: to provide destination leadership, to attract visitors, to support the industry and to service visitors.
 
Marketing Manchester manages the Northwest Conference Research Unit, a team responsible for researching and attracting conferences into England’s Northwest.
 
The Unit now has a new and exciting opportunity for an exceptional person with leadership abilities. Within this role, you will develop a strategic marketing plan and delivery framework to provide strategic and operational mentoring and marketing support to each of the Northwest’s sub-regions with setting up, growing and developing tailored Ambassador programmes. This will include working on multiple and varied projects simultaneously, aiding the coordination, planning and delivery of effective marketing activity.
 
You will therefore need a strong background in marketing or the business tourism industry, with a proven track record managing activity. Having previously planned and delivered marketing projects, you will need strong IT skills, along with experience of implementing monitoring methods, writing reports and managing budgets. You will need to be extremely organised and able to maintain a high level of attention to detail whilst handling a busy and varied workload.
 
We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, as you will work across the Northwest, liaising with a wide range of colleagues and contacts. You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and the confidence and professionalism to engage with and enthuse new and existing Ambassadors, as well as the creativity to seek continuous improvement and identify and implement innovative solutions. You will also have had experience in mentoring and development.
 
You will need a positive and flexible approach and a willingness and ability to regularly travel around the Northwest. Whilst not essential, knowledge or previous experience working with Conference Ambassador programmes would be highly advantageous.
