Dear ICCA Members and Friends,
Writing a message befitting the end of the year and over the Christmas season, is filled with mixed emotions. To me the end of the year brings with it a sense of relief that we have managed to deal with all the trials and tribulations along the way, and a feeling of happiness that a time for celebrations is approaching.
Being part of a global association like ICCA also brings the terrorist attacks, economic instability of certain parts of the world, political uncertainty closer to home for me. No longer are these things that happen at arm’s length in a far off place to people whom you have never met. These changes and environmental disasters do impact on our members, who are our friends: it is very real, close and personal.
Before the advent of technology, access to 24/7 global news and an integrated market system, I assume that people did not know what happened at the other end of the continent! So, with a bit of an ostrich approach, I am sure that they would have been less informed but also at the same time less stressed! That is the reason why I cherish the opportunity at the end of the year to not be connected all the time. It’s just good for the body, mind and soul!
To those of you who have had to deal with adversity, personal loss and other big challenges – allow yourself the time to celebrate the lives of those who will not be at the table this year. Congratulate yourself for finding the strength and tenacity to get through the challenges faced. You are a winner.
For those who have had a positive year, be grateful for the wonderful blessings and opportunities, make the most of them and appreciate what you have.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very peaceful and blessed Festive season. The contribution that each ICCA member has made and continues to make has contributed to the success and growth of our association. May 2017 be prosperous and bring about new opportunities and beginnings to everyone.
Your in ICCA,
