History

The Latin American Chapter was founded in 1970 and has since created an internal statute concerning the representation it would have.
Itwas agreed that the authorities of the Chapter would consist of a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

The structure of the Chapter had a change in 2001 with the creation of a regional office for Latin America. The venue chosen was Montevideo, Uruguay, where the Directory in charge to coordinate the Chapter activities together with the President was established.

In 2004 the position of Treasurer and Secretary was suppressed and the Chapter had a new structure comprised by a President, Past President, Vice President and Latin America ICCA Director. The Chapter Secretariat is run by the ICCA Office for Latin America.

In 2005 new rules & regulations were created and the authorities representing the Chapter were established, it regulates the way they are elected and the term of office. The previous structure was replaced by a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, positions that were elected and approved during the Chapter Meeting held in Montevideo during the ICCA Congress.

Over the years the Chapter membership has grown, becoming more important and strong in the region and being more active with several activities, including its three annual meetings: the first one in May during IMEX in Frankfurt, the second during the Latin American Meeting which rotates within countries in the region and the third one during the ICCA Congress. A Client Supplier Workshop is also held during the Latin American Meeting, where representatives from International Associations are invited to exchange information and network with ICCA members.

Also ICCA Latin America, represented by its Regional Director Santiago Gonzalez, is present in several events andtrade-shows like COCAL Congress, IMEX Frankfurt, FIEXPO Latin America, ExpoEventos in Argentina, IMEX America, EIBTM.
