About the SMIC:
The 5th edition of the Saudi Meetings Industry Convention (SMIC) comes a developed version of the “Saudi Convention and Exhibition Forum” which was held from 2013 to 2017 as an initiative by the Saudi Exhibition & Convention Bureau.
SMIC aims to strengthen communication channels, develop capacities, transfer knowledge and benefit from international experiences in the sustainable development field to develop the Saudi meetings industry as well as highlight the importance of the industry, its multiple programs and its role in achieving the Kingdom's 2030 vision. It also aims to highlight the meetings industry role in increasing the Kingdom’s economic base volume of investments. SMIC will be accompanied by an International trade exhibition where players and suppliers in the meetings industry can showcase their products and services.
SMIC is under the patronage of his Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, President & Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) and President of the Supervisory Committee to the Saudi Exhibition & Convention Bureau, under the supervision and strategic partnership of the Saudi Exhibition & Convention Bureau the event is organized by the Specialist - ExiCon International Group
SMIC will be held at King Faisal Conventions Center, Riyadh InterContinental Hotel, Saudi Arabia from 18 – 20th Feb ‘2018
The Convention will host the Saudi Associations Day. An important gathering for executives from certified technical, scientific and medical associations in the Kingdom. The goal behind the gathering is the development of association-related meetings and conferences, and how to develop partnerships with its International association counterparts.
ICCA will have many activities at this show. ICCA will be involved in the Association Day which will be held on 20th Feb in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Association day will be managed by ICCA and leading industry experts will speak on how to manage association segment and what are the challenges. Some the speakers are Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, Chief Convention Bureau Officer, South Africa Convention Bureau, ICCA Board Member, John Peacock, President Australian association Forum, Gary Grimmer, CEO, Gaining Edge and Fahad Al-Arfaj, Director Marketing, Saudi Exhibition and Convention Bureau. The association day will focus on enhancing the engagement and industry knowledge of Saudi based associations.
In addition to the Association day ICCA will be supporting by engaging with keynote sessions as follows:
- Skills for preparing competitive bids to attract business events will be presented by Juan Garcia – Vice President of the Board of Directors, International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA)
- Development of tools to attract business events will be presented by Christian Mutschlechner, Director, Vienna Convention Bureau
In addition the ICCA members from the Middle East region will be taking part in the event to conduct business with the Saudi meetings industry.
