The red update button is your friend! The more you use it, the more concrete information you get. ICCA members - together with the ICCA team - are working hard to achieve a mutually beneficial situation of sharing information on the ICCA Association Database.
Keep finding ways to press it and you'll be in the running to become the next Researcher of the Month - or even Researcher of the Year!
Tamara Gray Manager Research at Business Events Adelaide has secured the coveted title this month! Here's what the Valeria had to say:
How is the ICCA database beneficial for your organization?
The ICCA database is invaluable to Business Events Adelaide. Not only for data on events already in our strategic plan, but also to research related events and events that sit within the specific industry growth sectors of our state Government. The event size, rotational information and association contacts are particularly useful data and many preliminary contacts (sourced from ICCA) have been used to develop strong working relationships with the international associations leading the events.
As we manage both National and International events I also routinely use ICCA to determine if there are International Associations related to National Associations we are working with by simply searching key words. Quite a simplistic approach but often yields great knowledge that would otherwise may not have been uncovered.
Do you have any tips for your fellow ICCA members?
That’s a hard one as I’ve only been using the database myself for 4-5 weeks. One thing would be that since the change from the Access Association Database to the Business Intelligence portal I would encourage users to consult with both formats whilst the merge is still underway. This is particularly relevant for event logistical information (like bed numbers) for the BD team members. I am still learning this myself but I would also encourage users to take advantage of the new functions within the Business Intelligence portal, like the notes function under the events and the ability to share the notes with work colleagues if several staff members are working together on an event bid.
What positive message would you like to share with ICCAWorld?
I love this one:
“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have. A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
