This Month we get to know M Plus Museum Limited:

What was your motivation to join ICCA?

As part of our commitment to global cultural dialogue, M+ is now a member of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). This affiliation strengthens our position as a leading cultural institution and affirms Hong Kong’s role as a leading hub for international cultural exchange. Through ICCA, we look forward to connecting with the meetings and events community, sharing our unique perspective on contemporary visual culture, and fostering collaborations that amplify Asia’s perspective. It also enables us to engage with meeting planners, showcase the museum’s world-class facilities, and promote Hong Kong as a destination for major cultural events.

Which trends do you see in the Association Meetings?

At M+, we observe several trends that are shaping how associations deliver meetings and events:

· Cultural and experiential elements are increasingly valued as associations seek unique, immersive experiences that reflect local identity, such as venue-specific activities and art integrations, to enhance delegate experiences. These approaches resonate with M+’s multidisciplinary ethos and reflect the convergence across art, technology, and urban development.

· Hybrid and digital integration is becoming the meeting standards, with associations embracing technology to increase accessibility and engagement across physical and virtual spaces.

· Sustainability is now central to event planning. Organisers are adopting eco-friendly practices to reduce their carbon footprints and choose venues that prioritise environmental impact.

What is an industry challenging your organisation is facing currently?

Navigating cultural change is a key challenge for us at M+. As a global museum located in Asia, we must balance the pursuit of worldwide recognition with a deep commitment to local relevance. We also strive to maintain an inclusive and accessible environment for diverse audiences—a complex yet rewarding endeavour. Additionally, ensuring financial sustainability through patronage, memberships, and touring exhibitions is essential for M+ to thrive internationally.
