What is your mission & aim of the association?
The World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) is a not-for-profit organization for scientists who study the parasites of non-human animals, encompassing helminthology, protozoology and entomology. The association is dedicated to encouraging research in veterinary parasitology and promoting the exchange of information and material amongst researchers, veterinary practitioners and animal health investigators.

The specific purposes of the Association are :
(i) to encourage research in veterinary parasitology and to promote exchange of information and material between individuals and organizations interested in this field
(ii) to organize scientific meetings on topics relevant to veterinary parasitology, including zoonoses
(iii) to cooperate with international organizations, such as WHO and FAO, in all matters concerning veterinary parasitology
(iv) to prepare and publish technical guidelines for important fields of veterinary parasitology, such as testing of antiparasitic drugs, diagnostic methods, etc.

What kind of events are organised by your association?
The WAAVP holds a biennial conference attracting attendees from around the globe. The conferences cover all aspects of veterinary parasitology. Other conference activities include award presentations, special symposia and workshops and discussions mixed with a good helping of fun!

What is the decision process behind the selection of a destination/venue?
International access, safety, suitability of the venue, organizing partner/local association, attractions

What does your association do in terms of legacy, do your meetings have a societal impact on the destination?
We often engage with local universities and research institutions, have student meetings and workshops, CSR activities with the local community, and promote the science and advancement of veterinary parasitology for the health and wellbeing of animals and humans.

Are you looking to forge collaborations with other associations? If so in what areas of expertise?We are open to collaboration with associations that share similar interest, especially in areas of research, education and exchange of information.
