Meet the faces behind ICCA's famous First Time Attendee programme! ICCA places huge importance on giving First Time Attendees (FTAs) at the ICCA Congress a very warm welcome. Each year, just before the ICCA Congress begins, new attendees are invited to join a specialised session that aims to prepare them for success. Jam-packed full of helpful advice that is delivered from member to member, the programme has been delivered to over 3,000 delegates since it initially began and is designed with care to help them network, do business, learn, and maximise the benefits of attending their first ICCA Congress.

At the centre of the entire programme are the people we couldn’t do it without: our mentors, an amazing group of ICCA members and #ICCAFriends who are Congress veterans and want to help support and steer our newbies as they join the ICCA Family.

Meet Tim Kontner

Every event, no matter what type, is about bringing people together – that is something I am passionate about.

I have been working for Messe Stuttgart in the Guest Events department since 2015. When I started, I was responsible for the direct support of national and international organisers and agencies in the planning, realisation and debriefing of various kinds of events. During my time in project management, I was able to gain a lot of valuable experience. Now that I have been working as a Sales Manager since 2018, this experience enables me to offer my existing and potential clients comprehensive advice about the many opportunities they have at our exhibition and conference centre. To inspire them for Messe Stuttgart and to see the first development and further advancement of their events with us is a great feeling.

Before I started my professional life, I graduated with a Master in Strategic Management from the University of Innsbruck, Austria. During that time I was also able to pursue one of my passions more intensively - skiing.

Three years ago I became a member of the ICCA Family when I attended the 56th Congress in Prague. It was a wonderful and exciting experience to participate in the Congress as a first time attendee ,and the feeling of being welcomed so warmly was a truly special one. Now I would like to share this feeling with you, our new FTAs, and welcome you in the same beautiful way to the ICCA family – I am really looking forward to it.

Thank you to Tim for becoming an FTA mentor at the 58th ICCA Congress in Houston, U.S.A.! Are you interested in helping our First Time Attendees to settle in? Find out more about the programme or email Ksenija.p@iccaworld.org to find out how you can become a mentor.
