A huge thank you to ASAE and all the panelists for sharing their case studies and making the Global Collaboration Through Advance Knowledge Webinar a success. If you weren't able to join us live, you can watch the webinar or read a summary of the key messages and outcomes below.

This webinar provided a series of fast-paced positive examples of how sharing advance knowledge about expectations for their events between associations and suppliers, destinations and local stakeholders have resulted in successful outcomes for all parties involved. Associations have managed to grow attendance at their events, grow the number of their regional events and local memberships, enhance delegate experiences and destinations and suppliers have managed to provide creative solutions, outside of the box thinking, connections to local stakeholders from governments to public and support in getting a higher participation of underprivileged groups of delegates.

In a time when the meetings world and face-to-face opportunities have come to nearly a stand-still and we are all facing existential challenges it has become apparent that standing together united is more important than ever. All panellists and virtual participants embraced the importance of transparency and collaboration as a key message and outcome for the future to help us rebuild the meetings industry once the world returns to a new normal.

Case study 1 - Jim Piechowski, Institute of Management Accountants:
Jim Piechowski from the Institute of Management Accountants shared his positive experience on how connecting local members in the destination to organizers and staff has ensured a good understanding and connection of the organizational culture and expectations of the association and its members at the events. Specifically he shared a case study of how creating an international advisory committee can help advise both a global board of directors and staff to know more about a local destination to better decision-making and localization of events and increase participation and diversity of knowledge and participation. 

Case study 2 - Tara Miller, Destination DC:  
Tara Miller from Destination DC, explained how they assisted the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AAIA) promoted Public Day at the 70th International Astronautical Congress to locally increase participation and support public school and STEM programmes.

Case study 3 - Bridget Chisholm, International Leadership Association: 
Bridget Chisholm from the International Leadership Association addressed the Carbon Footprint of Events and the Importance and Impact of pre-event communication. Bridget mentioned that more and more delegates and potential new members demand that their association take into consideration the indelible carbon footprint of events. 

Case study 4 - Patrick Blangy, Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau: 
Perception it not necessarily always reality. Patrick Blangy with the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau addressed solutions for increasing participation of all attendees – including students – capitalizing on local support and unrecognized services which help facilitate conferences in Hawaii.

Case study 5 - Danielle Harris, Aemrican Concrete Institute: 
Danielle Harris who is with the American Concrete Institute focused on the importance of forging key strategic partnerships and how those have improved attendance at her association’s events and created new successful events regionally.

Case study 6 - Francesco Leboffe, Groups360: 
Francesco Leboffe who is with Groups360 shared how during his time with the Direct Marketing Association they have successfully expanded international attendance at their event by working with the local equivalent organizations in numerous countries. 

Case study 7 - Jillian Butcher, Calgary Stampede: 
Perhaps you think of the Calgary Stampede only for their annual event – but Jillian Butcher showed that this venue can exceed all expectations and present an exceptional, authentic experience with a modern twist year-round.
