Meet the faces behind ICCA's famous First Time Attendee programme! ICCA places huge importance on giving First Time Attendees (FTAs) at the ICCA Congress a very warm welcome. Each year, just before the ICCA Congress begins, new attendees are invited to join a specialised session that aims to prepare them for success. Jam-packed full of helpful advice that is delivered from member to member, the programme has been delivered to over 3,000 delegates since it initially began and is designed with care to help them network, do business, learn, and maximise the benefits of attending their first ICCA Congress.

At the centre of the entire programme are the people we couldn’t do it without: our mentors, an amazing group of ICCA members and #ICCAFriends who are Congress veterans and want to help support and steer our newbies as they join the ICCA Family.

T. Taubie Motlhabane

Taubie is an experienced strategic executive with over 30 years’ workplace experience, over 20 years of which, have been in senior and executive management. Her current role is CEO of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). In this role, Taubie is responsible for the strategic direction and management of this world-class, 5-star rated conference and events venue. She is an Executive Director of the CTICC Board of Directors. Taubie is the Chair for the African Chapter of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). She served as a member of the ICCA Kaohsiung Protocol Advisory Group established for the ICCA Congress 2020 and was a member of the G3 Panel Debate at the AIPC Annual Congress 2020. She has recently moderated the inaugural ICCA Think Tank session, that focused on issues faced by the Venue Sector of the Association. She has also been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC). She holds a Masters’ degree in Global Marketing from the University of Liverpool (UK), as well as a BA in Communication from the University of Bophuthatswana (now North West University, in South Africa). Her career has been forged in both the private and public sector, in the areas of Marketing, Customer & Stakeholder Management, Communications, Events Management, Public Relations, Broadcasting (TV), Print Media, Tourism and General Business Management. Taubie’s experience includes roles as Executive Director of the Tshwane Convention & Visitors Bureau; Divisional Head: Events at the City of Ekurhuleni; Business Tourism Manager: Association & Inter-governmental Meetings at South African Tourism; as well as Head: Conferences & Protocol at the South African Reserve Bank – where she also managed the Bank’s Conference Centre.
