Bogotá, April 2022-During the AFIDA Connect 2022 Congress, ICCA has announced an alliance with the International Association of Fairs of America (AFIDA), which aims to unite efforts to generate greater value for the regional community of meetings in the face of new challenges and opportunities that have emerged in the market. Both organizations agree that greater collaboration between associations of the meeting industry in Latin America is fundamental on the road to the reactivation and sustainable growth of the sector.

"From ICCA, we admire and value the hard work that AFIDA -under the presidency of Mario Cajiao (Corferias), the executive direction of Camila Delgado, the leadership of its board, and impetus of its associates- has carried out in the middle of this crisis to integrate the different points of view of the value chain and communicate the growing importance of our activity for the economic reactivation of our countries", commented the regional director of ICCA for Latin America and the Caribbean, Andrés Escandón, who was present at the congress.

The International Association of Fairs of America (AFIDA) is an organization with more than 50 years that integrates the community of venues and organizations of the fairs, congress, and convention industry in Latin America. It currently has 51 members, distributed in 16 countries in the Americas.

"The fairgrounds and convention centers have been and will continue to be, an engine for the growth of the meetings industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, and for the economic, social and cultural development of our communities. Today, we reiterate from ICCA our commitment to continue supporting this important category of the industry with a great ally like AFIDA," said Escandón.

The AFIDA Connect 2022 Congress and the 51st Latin American Congress of Fairs and Conventions took place between April 27th to 29th at the Ágora Convention Center Bogota -operated by Corferias- and had the participation of important actors of the Ibero-American meetings industry such as Messe Frankfurt Argentina, Grupo Heroica, Plaza Mayor, Fexpocruz, IFEMA Madrid, RLA Latam, Ungerboeck, among others.
