Member to Member Top Tip - September: How to get great ROI from the ICCA Business Exchange!

The benefits of attending a Business Exchange session at ICCA Events

Written by: Elynnie Dominic Jau, Head of Research, Sarawak Convention Bureau, Malaysia,

Attending the ICCA Congress? Sign up for the Business Exchange! Why? Elynnie Dominic Jau, Head of Research at Sarawak Convention Bureau, knows first-hand what great ROI it generates:

"I attended the 2015 ICCA Research, Sales and Marketing Programme (RSMP) (now called Association Marketing Programme) in Amsterdam and signed up for the Business Exchange (BE).

In the BE session, I shared detailed information on a congress we bid for and won, which was very useful for other BE attendees. In turn, I listened to other BE attendees who shared their leads and took notes. This is the basis of the session: exchanging knowledge on events for the benefit of all participants.

There was one good lead for Sarawak that led to a win for us. The lead was the International Conference on Kansei Engineering and Emotion Research (KEER), shared by Nico Nauta of East Sweden Convention Bureau. We did further research upon returning from the RSMP and followed up with the local member, who is also the apprentice to the founder of KANSEI Technology. In short, we researched thoroughly, bid for it and won the event for 2018.
I'm happy to say that the BE Session is one of the most significant sessions at any ICCA event. When you have the lead, you have a long process of research and follow up ahead of you, though - don't expect instant results.

I hope my story helps to convince you, fellow ICCA member, to attend a BE session whenever possible and share information on a congress you won."
