ICCA Researcher of the Month – August 2019
The red update button is your friend! The more you use it, the more concrete information you get. ICCA members - together with the ICCA team - are working hard to achieve a mutually beneficial situation of sharing information on the ICCA Association Database.
Keep finding ways to press it and you'll be in the running to become the next Researcher of the Month - or even Researcher of the Year!
For August 2019, Regyn Avena, Market Research Assistant at the Philippine International Convention Center has secured the coveted title! Here's what Regyn had to say:
Why do you consider it so important to contribute your meeting information to ICCA Data?
As an ICCA member, our organization places a lot of value in data contribution because we recognize that by doing so, we can help everyone in making informed decisions especially when preparing for bidding activities, predicting meeting trends, and engaging in network alliance.
What would you like to say to other ICCA members who haven’t actively used the ICCA Database?
As members of this organization, we have a salient role to make our ICCA membership sustainable in terms of inputs - uploading meeting information, updating our current database, and sharing our best practices with one another; in terms of outputs - downloading meeting information in bidding for events, enriching our knowledge on new meeting trends and evaluating these as bases for providing solutions to outstanding issues in our respective organizations. All of us have to make an effort to make this information cycle work as we are users and contributors in this organization.
Do you have any tips for your fellow ICCA members?
Create and maintain an organized internal meeting database aligned with ICCA's meeting information template to easily extract data when you use the red 'Report an Update' button in the ICCA platform. Take time to identify lacking meeting data requirements and research possible data sources to add to your updates.
Explore the Knowledge Hub on a weekly basis as there are loads of interesting and insightful industry topics and webinars which can be shared to your organization and clients during planning sessions and event coordination meetings.
I would personally recommend these top two favourites:
- Destination Comparison Tool - Gives a baseline data of your current and past rankings per city and country, globally and regionally.
- Sustainable Meetings and CSR under Knowledge Hub - Provides best practices on how to make meetings and event venues environmental-friendly as we are making concrete steps in making the Philippine International Convention Center a certified green convention Center.
It’s incredibly important you log in to the Association Database using your own account! The more updates you make to the Database, the greater chance you have of being named the Researcher of the Month - and we can’t be sure it’s you pressing the red button if you’re using your colleague’s details. Please help us end the confusion so this accolade continues to go to the right person.
