Dear ICCA Members,
What a busy year 2019 has already been for our global community!
Our Mediterranean Chapter met in Antalya, Turkey from 17-19 February, and our African Chapter met ahead of Meetings Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa for both their own Chapter Meeting and an education and networking seminar with association executives, the ICCA Meetings Africa Association Day.
ICCA Chapter Meetings are important platforms for regional collaboration and development, providing the opportunity for you as members to discuss the challenges affecting you in your destinations, how you can bring in business for the region together, and strengthen connections between your towns and cities. Supporting our members on a regional level is a major ICCA goal for the coming years, so to see so much activity, buzz and engagement surrounding our regional events is absolutely amazing.
The ICCA team and community were also present at several trade shows this month, including AIME Melbourne, ACE of MICE and Meetings Africa, allowing us more chances to meet with our members from around the world.
This month has also been full of exciting announcements about our association’s flagship events!
I’m excited to share with you our latest video for the 2019 ICCA Congress and invite you to mark the date in your calendars. We hope to see you in Houston from 27-30 October 2019. Registration opens at the end of March!
If you can’t wait until October to attend your next ICCA event or you missed out on a spot at the AES 2019 – which sold out within 2 days, a new record! -, join the ICCA team, your colleagues from our global community and international association executives at the ICCA AMP 2019 in Durban, South Africa from 18-20 June.
ICCA Members and association executives will be coming together for 3 days of small-scale networking, global business exchange, education about bidding for, organising and promoting international association meetings, and much more.
We recently announced the theme, Faculty Leaders and exciting topics we’ll be covering in our education programme. Read the full story for more information and get “inspiration to go further”! We hope you can join us in Durban this June.
Wishing you a great month ahead.
James Rees, ICCA President
