Ovation Group has been awarded the ICCA Best Marketing Award 2002 for "Big in Japan". Ciaran Hynes, Managing Director and Partner Ovation Group, accepted the prize in Copenhagen at the finale of the International Congress and Convention Association annual meeting. It is the first time that an Irish company has won such a prestigious ICCA award.
The ICCA Best Marketing Awards represents the best of international competition and the association, which was founded in 1963, is one of the most prominent organisations in the world of international meetings, events and conferences. ICCA represents specialists in planning, accommodating and operating international events, in 76 countries around the world, and the rigorous entrance and qualification regulations for the competition reflects the high calibre of the entrants.
"Big in Japan" was the clever response to a gap in the marketplace for lucrative, high quality hospitality opportunities during the World Cup in June 2002. Ciaran Hynes believes that "when opportunities arise, they should be considered and acted upon quickly.... "Big in Japan" was a fantastic project from conception to execution and answered the growing need to provide customers with unique and exciting client hospitality options...." Ovation Group, Ireland's leader in Event, Conference and Destination Management, is now based in new offices in Dun Laoghaire, and following their recent merger has a much expanded team of almost 50 industry professionals, dedicated to providing clients with intelligent and creative business tourism solutions.
The ICCA award is the latest in a string of international commendations that Ovation Group has received in the past year. In June the Meeting Professionals International association (MPI) presented their highly coveted Global Paragon Award to Patrick Delaney (CEO and Partner) in Toronto at their World Education Congress.
2002 has also seen the International Special Events Society (ISES) recognise Ovation Group's expertise, creativity and delivery with their Best Corporate Event award for "Lore of Ireland". Again, Ovation Group were the first Irish Company to be the recipients of an ISES Award. The event chronicled the rich history of Irish music and dance through dramatic performances from both well-established and new entertainers.
Among Ovation Group's plans for 2003 are its organisation of accommodations and events for the families and guests of the Special Olympics 2003. Ciaran Hynes admits that "we have raised the bar, for ourselves and the industry... it gives us a great opportunity and an exciting challenge not only to meet, but to exceed the expectations of our clients next year."
