The Director of the German Convention Bureau Matthias Schultze gave a presentation on megatrends shaping the convention industry. A recent study of the German Convention Bureau revealed that technology is bound to be the most important driver of the meeting industry in the years to come.
Schultze's Viennese counterpart, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau Christian Mutschlechner, talked about the appropriate attitude towards changing conditions in the field of medicine that is necessary to take in the meeting industry.
Peter de Merlier is the Managing Partner of C-IN, leading company specialized in event, congress and association management in Europe. He took part in the panel discussion and mentioned the benefits of the virtual and hybrid events. Apart from considerable cost savings, the virtual meetings enable to reduce time spent travelling not only for the participants, but also the speakers. Nevertheless, Peter believes that these are not likely to replace the traditional ones. Face-to-face events enjoy irreplaceable advantages.
Peter is an experienced speaker and has also actively contributed to the Congresses and other events of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). At the 52nd ICCA Congress held in Shanghai, he acted as a speaker at a round table discussion and undertook the role of the moderator of the presentation and moderated discussion on Scientific discovery and advancement.
