ICCA Researcher of the Month - November 2018

The red update button is your friend! The more you use it, the more concrete information you get. ICCA members - together with the ICCA team - are working hard to achieve a mutually beneficial situation of sharing information on the ICCA Association Database. 

Keep finding ways to press it and you'll be in the running to become the next Researcher of the Month - or even Researcher of the Year!

For November 2018, Isolde Fuchs, Marketing Manager Conventions, Munich Convention Bureau has secured the coveted title! Here's what Isolde had to say:

1. Why do you consider it so important to contribute your meeting information to ICCA Data?

Sharing is caring - I have been working for the Munich Convention Bureau for more than 22 years. It has always been important to watch the meeting and congress market very closely in order to offer tailor-made destination marketing services to our clients. Nowadays, the meeting industry is a very fast developing branch, which needs even more attention from the CVB side. The ICCA Database is a very reliable database, giving a great overview of the actual meeting industry worldwide.

However, this can only be a trustworthy source when everybody helps to keep it as "up to date“ as possible. Only through continuous updating and a complete ICCA Database can we provide the opportunity to search for potential business (e.g. by finding information about the meeting history and the first open year for bids). Therefore, I see it as a core responsibility to contribute our meeting information data to the industry.

2. What would you like to say to other ICCA members who haven't actively used the ICCA Database?

Use it or lose it! By not using the ICCA Database, ICCA members are missing out on a great overview of potential leads and current bids for their destinations.

Every year it is very exciting to check the results of the ICCA Statistics Report and compare our destination ranking within the national, European and international markets. It is an overwhelming feeling to know that I have contributed my best to this ranking, and it even feels like my very personal incentive improving our country and city ranking. 

3. Do you have any tips for your fellow ICCA members?

Make new ICCA friends and improve your business. I can only recommend you to take advantage of your membership as best as possible by filling in and using the ICCA Database, as well as the multiple PR, advertising and networking benefits ICCA provides.

Knowledge and experience exchange with other ICCA members is a great way to bond within the meeting industry, analyse your market position and set up corresponding sales and marketing activities.
