‘Blood Connects Us All’

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 June 2016 ¬– The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) saw a 16% increase in donors at this year’s blood donation campaign held in conjunction
with the National Blood Centre (NBC) on 26 May. The event collected over 45,350ml, or 45.35litres of blood, from 114 donors – both staff and members of the public working and
visiting the KLCC Precinct.

This year’s event saw 71 walk-in donors from offices around the KLCC Precinct as people embraced the ‘Blood connects us all’ theme and volunteered to give their own blood to
help others.

“I am a regular donor but this is my first time donating at the Centre. Knowing that the blood donation event is being held a stones throw away from my office meant, I could not pass
up the opportunity,” said Roy, one of the walk-in donors. He continued, “the convenient location made it easier for many to donate blood.”

Like Roy, Allan bin Crispin Biong, an Assistant Manager in the Centre’s Catering Division and a third time donor expressed that, he took time after his working hours to donate. “To
be a part of the Centre’s genuine effort to help others makes this more meaningful to me. I am glad we were provided with this opportunity.”Applauding the team members and the public
on their contribution, Simon Lomas Deputy General Manager of the Centre shared, “Each successful donation has the potential to save at least three lives and the act of unconditional
giving (blood donation) is a great step towards strengthening harmony and unity. After all, unity runs in our blood and blood connects
us all.”
