First Water Reuse Europe conference will take place in Bruges

First Water Reuse Europe conference will take place in Bruges

On 9 and 10 October 2017, Bruges will host the very first ‘Water Reuse Europe’ conference, the benchmark conference for the water reuse sector in Europe.

Water Reuse Europe (WRE) was founded in 2016 to bring together public bodies, trade and professional associations and research organizations involved in the water reuse sector. Its mission is to share and exchange knowledge, techniques, research and experiences in the field of water reuse and to promote a safe and efficient use of recycled water in Europe.

This two-day conference will take place at Novotel Brugge Centrum. The attendants, who come from all around the world, will discuss the challenges the sector is facing as well as the latest technologies.

The conference will be followed by a visit to the world renowned IWVA Torreele Water Reclamation Scheme for indirect potable reuse in Koksijde. Here, wastewater effluent is treated to produce infiltration water for groundwater recharge. The conference-goers will also visit PesiCo (Veurne) where ‘de Watergroep’ and IWVA work together to treat effluent for internal on-site reuse. IWVAn short for Intercommunale Waterleidingsmaatschappij van Veurne-Ambacht (the intermunicipal water distribution company of Veurne-Ambacht) and has been an active member of WRE since its establishment.

The Bruges Convention Bureau has assisted the board of Water Reuse in the organization of their first conference in Bruges. “The convention bureau Meeting in Bruges has been very helpful in planning this conference” says geologist Emmanuel Van Houtte.

Meeting in Brugge is the official Convention Bureau of the city of Bruges. Within 24 hrs, the bureau offers free professional advice for meeting planners and conference organizers. If you’re planning an incentive, a seminar or a conference, they will put you in touch with the right contacts in Bruges, and put together a complete offer with the possibilities, all free of charge.
