Dubai Business Events (DBE), the emirate’s official convention bureau, has partnered with ICCA to become a globally-recognized Association Relations Partner (ARP), further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a gateway for international associations looking to set up regional headquarters or host conferences in the Middle East.
The partnership comes at a time when Dubai is preparing to host the ICCA Congress in November this year. Becoming an Associations Relations Partner will support Dubai in leveraging ICCA’s channels to build stronger relationships with key members of international associations, while supporting in the development of a stronger association community in the Middle East.
Steen Jakobsen, Director, Dubai Business Events said: “Associations are undoubtedly significant contributors to economic and scientific development and industry progression globally, providing a vast range of skills and knowledge across key sectors including health, science, education, technology, among others. Partnering with ICCA as an Association Relations Partner is an important step forward in our journey to transforming the city into a global knowledge hub by strengthening relationships with associations across key industry verticals outlined in the UAE Vision 2021. As an immediate result, we have already witnessed a growing interest from associations around the world to organize conferences and establish permanent representation in the city.”
The city acknowledges that associations are set to play a key role in further elevating Dubai’s status as a global business hub and preferred business events destination. Today, business events continue to play a significant role in achieving Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020, and the overarching UAE Vision 2021, while driving innovation across vital industry sectors. DBE has been pivotal in driving progress towards realizing these goals.
The Dubai Association Centre, a collaboration between DBE, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Dubai World Trade Centre, has successfully expanded the association community in Dubai and the wider Middle East region, and has supported the city’s growth into a knowledge hub. The success of the first-ever Dubai Association Conference, organized by the Centre in December 2017, is also testament to the strides the emirate has taken in developing an eco-system for associations to thrive. DBE has also developed several successful programmes and initiatives, such as the Al Safeer Ambassadors Programme which is a network of Dubai-based industry experts who leverage their expertise and connections to identify and attract international association conferences to Dubai.
