Events Industry Council seeks help from industry for upcoming Global Economic Significance Study

The Events Industry Council has engaged Oxford Economics to conduct a global analysis of the economic significance of meetings. The study will build on existing studies in selected markets to provide an overall picture of the global importance of meetings on a region by region basis as well as for the top 50 countries. As part of the data collection process, we are asking members or industry partners if they can provide helpful data sources that would ultimately serve as inputs for the economic modelling.

Examples of such data include:

  • Past or current research on the impact of meetings in global markets and countries, including corporate publications and academic studies
  • International/regional studies conducted by trade, expo, business, and travel associations
  • Databases of international meeting organizations, facilities, and businesses

If you are aware of research that may be useful in this study, please contact Michael Mariano, Director, Tourism Economics, Phone: +1 610 995 9600 or email Thank you in advance for your assistance in this very important research for our industry!
