Update: Candidates standing for election 2019

Dear ICCA Members,

Further to the information published in various monthly Members Updates, regarding vacancies on the ICCA Board of Directors, as the deadline for candidates to come forward has passed, we are delighted to inform you that the following Candidates have been duly nominated and seconded for the following positions on the ICCA Board of Directors. Elections will take place at the General Assembly of ICCA in Houston, U.S.A., on 27 October, 2019. However, there will also be an opportunity to vote electronically before the General Assembly for the Board elections, the electronic vote will be sent to members in good time.

Who can vote for what when the ICCA Board election voting opens? (NOTE VOTING HAS NOT YET OPENED)

- Only Meetings Support members can cast their vote for the Chair of this Sector.

- Only Middle East Members can cast their vote for the Geographical Representative for

   the Middle East.

NOTE there are no vacancies on the ICCA Board for the following Sectors/Geographic Regions in 2019:

Sector:  Meetings Management; Sector:  Transport; Sector:  Venues

Geographic Representative: Africa; Geographic Representative: Asia Pacific; Geographic Representative: Europe.

SECTORS

In previous information we informed that Ms Annie Kristi Korsmo would stand for re-election however we have recently been informed that Annie will not stand for re-election and has withdrawn her candidacy. 

DESTINATION MARKETING - one vacancy with one candidate election:

Mr. Alexey Kalachev, CEO, Russian Convention Bureau, Russia, standing for election.

Nominated by: Mr. Ivo Franschitz, ENITED Business Events GmbH, Austria.

Seconded by: Mr.  Igor Kovacevic, Serbia Convention Bureau, Serbia.

As the candidates for the Co-Chair of the Sector Destination Marketing do not outnumber the vacancy no election will be held.

MEETINGS SUPPORT – one vacancy with the following two candidates standing for election

Mr. Jaap Bakker, Managing Partner, Parthen meeting services, The Netherlands, standing for election.

Nominated by: Mrs. Cecile Koch, Boardroom Magazine, Belgium

Seconded by: Mr. Jelmer van Ast, Conference Compass, The Netherlands.

Mr. Thomas Wasshuber, Partner/Managing Director, Steinerlive.com, Austria, standing for election.

Nominated by: Mr. Richard Rettenbacher, CTI Meeting Technology, Austria.

Seconded by: Mr. Patrick Delaney, SoolNua, Ireland.

As there are two candidates standing for the one vacancy, all members who belong to the Sector Meetings Support will have the opportunity to vote when voting opens.

LATIN AMERICA & CARIBBEAN - one vacancy with one candidate standing for election.

Seconded by: Mr. Pablo Sismanian, Argentina – National Institute of Tourism Promotion, Argentina.

For the Geographical Representative for Latin America & Caribbean as the candidates do not outnumber the position, no election will be held.

Mr. Mubarak Al Shamisi, Director, Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, U.A.E., standing for election.

Seconded by: Mrs. Luma Khatib, Jordan Convention Bureau, Jordan.

Mr. Paul Wilson, Executive Director, INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions, U.A.E., standing for election.

Nominated by: Mr. Steen Jakobsen, Dubai Business Events, U.A.E.

Seconded by: Mr. Mahir Julfar, Dubai World Trade Centre, U.A.E..

As there are two candidates standing for the one vacancy, all members who in the ICCA Middle East Region will have the opportunity to vote when voting opens.

Seconded by: Ms. Claire Smith, Vancouver Convention Centre, Canada.

For the Geographical Representative for North America as the candidates do not outnumber the position, no election will be held.
