ICCA Africa Chapter announce newly elected Chairperson and Deputy Chair

ICCA Africa Chapter is pleased to announce that Taubie Motlhabane, CEO of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), is the newly appointed Chairperson, and Jacinta Nzioka from Kenya National Convention Bureau has been elected as Deputy Chair. Voted in by the Africa Chapter members, they will serve as Chairperson and Deputy Chair respectively for a 2 year term.

Chairperson - Taubie Motlhabane

Taubie Motlhabane is an experienced strategic executive with over 29 years’ workplace experience, over 18 years of which, have been in senior and executive management. Her current role is CEO of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). In this role, Taubie is responsible for the strategic direction and management of this world-class, 5-star rated conference and events venue. Her career has been forged in both the private and public sector, in the areas of Marketing, Customer & Stakeholder Management, Communications, Events Management, Public Relations, Broadcasting (TV), Print Media, Tourism and General Business Management.

Taubie’s experience includes roles as Executive Director of the Tshwane Convention & Visitors Bureau; Divisional Head: Events at the City of Ekurhuleni; Business Tourism Manager: Association & Inter-governmental Meetings at South African Tourism; as well as Head: Conferences & Protocol at the South African Reserve Bank – where she also managed the Bank’s Conference Centre.

Deputy Chair - Jacinta Nzioka

Jacinta Nzioka, National Coordinator from Kenya National Convention Bureau, through her leadership is working to position Kenya as a preferred MICE destination aiming at ranking 2nd in Africa by 2022. Before her appointment, Jacinta had served as the Director of Marketing at the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) for 6 years where she was charged with the responsibility of leading Kenya's global tourism marketing strategy. In 2016, she was the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the KTB for 11 months.

With over 20 years’ experience in Destination Marketing & Management, she has been involved in several projects and initiatives to turn around the sector during previous crises through implementation of global recovery strategies. Jacinta has overseen implementation of tourism projects in all the source markets having been a Regional Manager for America, Europe and Emerging Markets during this period and has overseen development of a strategy to penetrate the African market and Domestic markets in later years.
