What are ICCA Sectors?
ICCA Sectors bring together ICCA members working in different professional areas of the international meetings and events industry. The sectors encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration, knowledge-sharing, innovation and problem-solving among organisations involved in delivering international association meetings and events. Each ICCA Sector has a Chair who provides industry leadership and influence.
How many ICCA Sectors are there?
ICCA currently has four Sectors: Destination Management, Meetings & Events Management, Meetings & Events Solutions, and Venues & Hotels. Together, they represent different types of organisations involved in the planning, management, delivery and hosting of international meetings and events.
What is the ICCA Destination Management Sector?
The Destination Management Sector represents organisations involved in developing, promoting, connecting and managing destinations for international meetings and events. It includes ministries of tourism; national, regional and local tourist offices; national, regional and local convention bureaux; international destination representation companies; and transport organisations such as airline alliances, bus operators, train operators and car rental companies.

Why did ICCA change its Sector structure and names?
ICCA introduced refreshed Sector names following the 64th ICCA Congress in Porto to better reflect the scope of the international meetings and events industry. The former Destination Marketing Sector became Destination Management, Meetings Management became Meetings & Events Management, Meetings Support became Meetings & Events Solutions, and Venues became Venues & Hotels. The former Transport Sector was incorporated into Destination Management.
How do ICCA Sectors support the international meetings industry?
ICCA Sectors provide a platform for professionals from different parts of the meetings industry to share knowledge, solve common challenges and develop cross-disciplinary approaches. ICCA says collaboration among expert stakeholders can increase the value proposition for associations and contribute to a smoother experience when delivering international meetings and events.
What is the difference between ICCA Sectors and ICCA Chapters?
ICCA Sectors are organised by professional area, while ICCA Chapters are organised geographically. Sectors bring together members working in areas such as destination management, meetings and events management, meetings and events solutions, and venues and hotels. Chapters bring members from the same geographical region together to support best-practice sharing, knowledge exchange and business opportunities.
Which ICCA Sector is right for my organisation?
Your ICCA Sector depends on the primary role your organisation plays in the international meetings and events industry. Organisations focused on destinations and destination infrastructure may fall within Destination Management; PCOs, DMCs, event organisers and related agencies within Meetings & Events Management; specialist event suppliers within Meetings & Events Solutions; and hotels, cruise lines, convention and exhibition centres, universities and training centres within Venues & Hotels. ICCA invites meeting professionals from all four sectors to become part of its global community.
