To recognise this year’s top ICCA Data Provider, it gives us great pleasure to announce that Luz Aida Salcedo, Senior Bureau Officer, Invest in Bogotá, has been chosen "Researcher of the Year 2024" and will receive a certificate, together with a sum of €500 to be put against any ICCA product or event within 24 months of winning the award!
We appreciate Luz Aida’s cooperation to help contribute excellent meetings information to the database. We are confident he will be an inspiration for other members who are not yet using the database and its update functionality to their fullest potential. Because of her efforts, the ICCA Database offers improved data for other ICCA members!
Why do you consider it so important to contribute your meeting information to ICCA Business Intelligence?
Because we’re part of a global community that’s constantly evolving, and that means we all share a responsibility—not just to keep information updated—but to support ICCA’s research team and help open doors to new business opportunities for everyone. It’s about growing together.
What do you gain from using the ICCA Business Intelligence for your work with Greater Bogota Convention Bureau?
We gain a lot! The platform gives us more than just numbers—it gives us context. It helps us understand our clients better, identify trends, and make more strategic decisions. It’s a powerful tool that goes way beyond attendee figures.
What advice do you have for other ICCA members who haven’t actively used the ICCA Business Intelligence?
Don’t think of it as just a directory. It’s much more than that. It’s a space to connect with others, learn from global benchmarks, and even discover or create new business opportunities in a more focused and informed way.
Do you have any ICCA BI tips for your fellow ICCA members?
Take the time to really explore the platform—especially the event history and how each edition has evolved. There are so many learnings hidden in the details that can help you improve your approach, specially when you have potential local hosts.
What do you plan to do with your €500 voucher?
Honestly, I haven decide yet 🙂—but I’m leaning toward using it for events where I can learn more about sectors like health or technology, because I believe that spaces give you another point of view beyond the technical vision. It’s a great chance to keep building relationships that matter for Bogotá.
Tell us something that is happening/in the works at Greater Bogota Convention Bureau that you’d like the members to know about.
Bogotá is getting stronger in attracting ICCA-type events. that the convention bureau being part of an investment promotion agency allows us to work closely with key economic sectors that bring real value to the city. Over the past few years, I’ve been honored to lead the association segment, and one of my main goals has been to connect universities, the tourism sector, and business leaders. That teamwork is what helps us create stronger bids and host impactful international events linked with investment opportunities for the city and country.
