On 7 September, ICCA closed the Call for Candidates for the ICCA Board of Directors. The results are as follows:

PRESIDENCY

One Vacancy

For the position of President, two candidates came forward:

  • Eyal Halevy, Paragon Global
    Nominator: Taubie Motlhabane, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC)
    Seconder: Anna Laura Alfano, Panama tourism promotion fund (PROMTUR)
     
  • Christoph Tessmar, Barcelona Convention Bureau
    Nominator: Arnaldo Nardone, FIEXPO - Latin America
    Seconder: Jason Yeh, GIS Group

Since there are two candidates, there will be an election for the position of ICCA President.


SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES

Meetings and Events Management

One Vacancy

For Meetings and Events Management, three candidates came forward:

Since there are three candidates, there will be an election for the position of ICCA Board Representative Sector Meetings and Events Management.

One Vacancy

For Venues and Hotels, one candidate came forward:

  • Carina Montagut, Convention & Exhibition Centre - Feria Valencia
    Nominator: Sheika Fuad Al Mugheiry, Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre
    Seconder: Hajah Rosmawati Haji Lasuki, Sabah International Convention Centre

Since Carina Montagut is the only candidate, she will automatically be re-elected as ICCA Board Representative Venues and Hotels for the coming two years. This will be her last term.

Geographic Africa

One Vacancy

For Africa, one candidate came forward:

  • Taubie Motlhabane, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC)
    Nominator: Lindiwe Rakhareba, Durban International Convention Centre
    Seconder: Gill Slaughter, Turners Conferences & Conventions (Pty) Ltd

Since Taubie Motlhabane is the only candidate, she will automatically be elected as the ICCA Board Representative Africa for the coming two years. This will be her first term.

Geographic Asia Pacific

One Vacancy

For Asia-Pacific, one candidate came forward:

  • Leonie Ashford, Tourism New Zealand
    Nominator: Gillian Officer, Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre
    Seconder: Matt Pearce, Talk2 Media and Events

Since Leonie Ashford is the only candidate, she will automatically be re-elected as the ICCA Board Representative Asia Pacific for the coming two years. This will be her second term.

Where an election is required, eligible members will receive a specific voting link in due course.

In accordance with the ICCA Articles and Bylaws, secure online voting will open no earlier than 30 days prior to the General Assembly and no later than five days prior, and will remain open for at least the first fifteen minutes of the General Assembly, enabling eligible members to vote either remotely or while attending the meeting in person.
