The BI feedback button is your friend! The more you use it, the more concrete information you get. ICCA members - together with the ICCA team - are working hard to achieve a mutually beneficial situation of sharing information on the ICCA Business Intelligence Database.

Keep finding ways to press it and you'll be in the running to become the next Researcher of the Month - or even Researcher of the Year!

Murilo Cursino Brito, Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur), has secured the coveted title this month! Here's what he had to say:

How is the ICCA Business Intelligence database beneficial for your work/organisation?

The ICCA database is a fundamental instrument for Embratur's work in international event bidding. It allows us to identify congresses and association meetings with potential to be held in Brazil and to monitor the country's positioning in the global events market. The ICCA annual ranking, the sector's primary reference indicator, guides strategic priorities, supports bid candidacies, and evidences the economic impact of hosting international events in the country. Every secured event represents income generation, job creation, and international visibility for Brazil.

Do you have any tips for your fellow ICCA members?

The ICCA database extends well beyond a market intelligence tool. My primary recommendation is to explore the data not only to identify events, but to build concrete arguments on the social and economic impact each secured event can generate in the host destination. Connecting ICCA figures to local indicators, such as job creation, economic activity, and community legacy, strengthens bid candidacies and broadens the engagement of public and private partners. The more members draw on this potential, the more the events sector consolidates as a driver of development for their countries.

What positive message would you like to share with ICCAWorld  (this doesn’t have to be about work/database/research).

The future is uncertain, and that is precisely what makes it worth pursuing. We postpone decisions in anticipation of the right moment, the ideal conditions, the guaranteed outcome. Control is, in large part, an illusion. The most significant things happen when we choose to act nonetheless. The message is simple. Try. Whatever you have been postponing, begin. The result may surprise you.
