We interviewed Dimitris Ganitis to understand the Mediterranean Chapter initiatives, challenges, and strategies. Here's what Dimitris had to share:
Can you share insights into the current priorities and initiative of the Mediterranean chapter of ICCA?
The Mediterranean chapter of ICCA is currently focused on several key priorities and initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration and growth within the region's meetings, events, and congress industry.
By promoting a supportive environment for knowledge-sharing and relationship-building, the chapter aims to strengthen bonds within the community and empower members to achieve collective success.
The Med chapter meeting is one such initiate, where the chapter prioritizes enhancing participation in its initiatives and cultivates live interaction between its members by engaging with industry experts, sharing insights, and staying abreast of the latest trends and best practices.
Although the Mediterranean chapter from a geographical and cultural coherence point view is the most diverse and challenging one, optimizing its regional presence and ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities for all our members is and will continue to be among our top priorities.
Through these efforts, the Mediterranean chapter of ICCA is dedicated to driving positive change and rewarding growth within the meetings and events industry across the region.
What do you perceive as the most significant challenges and opportunities for the European meetings and events industry in the coming year?
The technological advancements and changing consumer behaviors are reshaping the events landscape, driving demand for immersive experiences and personalized content delivery. Embracing digitalization and leveraging emerging technologies offer opportunities to enhance attendee engagement and create memorable event experiences.
In addition, geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties continue to impact international collaborations and market dynamics, requiring the industry to navigate complex geopolitical landscapes and adapt strategies accordingly. Additionally, geopolitical shifts may influence travel policies and visa regulations, affecting the ease of international mobility for event attendees and organizers.
Furthermore, sustainability remains a key focus, with increasing pressure to reduce the environmental footprint of events and promote eco-friendly practices. This presents an
opportunity for the industry to lead by example and pioneer innovative sustainability initiatives, aligning with broader global efforts to address climate change and promote responsible stewardship of resources.
How do you plan to enhance collaboration and engagement among members within the chapter?
Enhancing collaboration and engagement among chapter members is a top priority, particularly following the ICCA meetings. We plan to achieve this by fostering the sense of community through regular networking events and workshops.
Additionally, we recognize the importance of leveraging digital tools to facilitate creating a sense of community. We aim to provide accessible opportunities for members to participate and contribute, regardless of geographical constraints. These practices will facilitate meaningful connections and knowledge exchange, empowering members to share insights, best practices, and industry trends.
Overall, through many occasions of proactive engagement, digital innovation, and a focus on sustainability, we are dedicated to providing for a vibrant and collaborative community to the ICCA Mediterranean chapter, driving advancement within the meetings and events industry.
