This month, we get to know Nexus Events And Entertainment W.L.L:
What was your motivation to join ICCA?
Our main motivation to join ICCA was to gain better access to the global association community and create opportunities to work more closely with international partners on congresses and events. ICCA is a well-respected global platform, and being part of it helps position Nexus more strongly as we expand beyond the GCC. At the same time, it gives us the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with destinations, peers, and associations around the world. We also see strong value in the learning and development side of ICCA, particularly for our team, through its knowledge-sharing and training initiatives. Overall, being part of ICCA adds both credibility and long-term value to how we grow as an organisation.
Tell us your story. How did your organisation get started?
Nexus was created with the idea of developing new, meaningful initiatives in niche sectors by working closely with governments, associations, and major industries in the region. From the beginning, the vision was not just to organise events, but to build platforms that could grow over time and expand into other markets organically. We saw clear gaps in the events industry, particularly around important topics that were not being addressed in a focused or impactful way. That led us to create sector-driven platforms designed to bring together the right stakeholders and deliver value not just for participants, but also for governments, industries, and the wider community.
What sets your organisation apart?
What sets Nexus apart is our focus on building long-term platforms rather than one-off events. Many of our initiatives are designed as year-round engagements that continue to deliver value well beyond the event itself. We also take a very focused, sector-specific approach. Instead of creating large, broad shows, we develop platforms around key topics that are important to governments, industries, and communities, ensuring they are meaningful and relevant to the right stakeholders. Another important aspect is how we work with partners. Our focus is on building long-term collaborations and initiatives, rather than commercial, one-time events. We don’t see ourselves as traditional event organisers, but as platform builders, creating ecosystems that can grow, evolve, and integrate with existing industries over time.
What is your favorite success story from your organisation?
One of our favourite success stories has been the Global Water, Energy & Climate Change Congress (GWECCC), developed in partnership with the Government of Bahrain and UNEP. It was a prestigious initiative focused on the intersection of climate change with water and energy, and the role these sectors play in climate protection. What made it particularly meaningful for us was the level of engagement it brought from government leaders, international organisations, and major industry players. It created a platform for serious dialogue on some of the region’s most important challenges and demonstrated how a well-positioned congress can contribute to long-term collaboration and knowledge exchange.
What can we expect to see from Nexus Events And Entertainment W.L.L in the future?
Over the coming years, we are focused on expanding our presence in the region, including the launch of our new office in Saudi Arabia. At the same time, we are developing new initiatives across key sectors such as ESG, several key & flagship safety portfolios, wellbeing, and R&D in areas like chemistry, new energies etc. We are also in the process of finalising partnerships with global centres of excellence and international associations, which will further enable in the creation of new platforms. Our goal is to continue building focused, high-impact initiatives that bring together the right stakeholders and grow into long-term platforms.
Which trends do you see in the Association Meetings?
We are seeing a growing interest from international associations in hosting their meetings in the GCC, driven by strong infrastructure, sector-focused investment, and support from governments in GCC. This creates more opportunities for companies like ours to work closely with associations by providing local expertise, securing partners, and managing content and delivery.
What is an industry challenging your organisation is facing currently?
One of the key areas we continue to focus on is balancing long-term impact with sustainable growth. As we expand our flagship platforms across different markets, each with its own priorities and stakeholder landscape, it requires a thoughtful and adaptable approach. This also presents an opportunity for us to strengthen partnerships and refine our model to ensure consistency, relevance, and long-term value across all our initiatives.
