What was your motivation to join ICCA?
SJM is excited to join the International Congress and Convention Association as part of our strategic goal to enhance and expand our capabilities within the global MICE industry. As a leading player in Macau's integrated tourism and leisure sector, we recognize the importance of being part of, and contributing to, a robust global community that is pivotal in shaping international standards and practices in the meetings industry. This affiliation supports our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of delivering world-class services and facilities most pertinent to our clients.
Membership in ICCA will also provide us with a platform to showcase the diversified tourism appeal of Macau as Asia’s premier destination. It will enable us to effectively connect with associations that are key to our strategic development industries and drive synergistic collaborations. Our long term goal is to establish Macau as a knowledge and networking hub, where experts from various industries converge to exchange ideas and foster economic growth. This vision supports the broader agenda of contributing to the economic diversification of Macau and our high quality tandem development with Southern China.
Tell us your story. How did SJM Resorts S.A. get started?
SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM) is a leading owner, operator and developer of premier integrated entertainment resorts in Macau, with the Lisboa brand grown to become synonymous with the city. Rooted in Macau for more than six decades, the company’s tourism portfolio caters to a wide spectrum of customers, and is reputed for its iconic hotel architecture and facilities, award-winning gastronomy, outstanding hospitality and authentic local experiences. SJM laid the foundation for Macau’s growth over the past decades and continues to invest as Macau grows into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure. SJM is a principal subsidiary of the Hong Kong-listed SJM Holdings Limited.
SJM’s newest flagship in Cotai is the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. It is the only resort in the world which houses two fashion-branded hotel towers, including the one and only THE KARL LAGERFELD MACAU, and Asia’s first Palazzo Versace Macau. Along with the modern Chinoiserie-style Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, the resort embodies the signature East-meets-West heritage of the city. Other hotel properties under SJM Resorts include the Grand Lisboa Macau, the Ponte 16 Resort and the 5-star Sofitel Macau in the historic Inner Harbour district, as well as the Jai Alai Hotel, which is conveniently connected to the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal.
