Contracting with major congress and convention venues CoverThe terms used to describe meetings and exhibition venues vary around the world. They may be congress, conference or convention centres, exhibition centres, or a combination of both. The common factor, with respect to this guide, is that the venues work on an international basis – and so, frequently, do their clients. It is important that both the venue and the client are clear about their rights and responsibilities with respect to the staging of an event. A written document – usually in the form of a legal contract – is the best way to achieve this. A contract signed and dated by appropriate, authorised people helps ensure there are no misunderstandings, and that details won’t be overlooked or forgotten.

Produced in partnership with AIPC, this guide is designed to assist new centres, clients dealing with convention centres for the first time, students and newcomers to the industry when dealing with the issue of convention centre contracts.
